Microwave Rice Krispy Treats

  • 1 large bag regular marshmallows (16 oz or approx. 70 large marshmallows) 
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 7-8 cups rice crispy cereal


  • Melt butter in large round mold (approx. 30-60 seconds).
  • Add marshmallows and stir to coat with butter.  Return to microwave and cook for 2 minutes or until marshmallows are big and fluffy.  
  • Add cereal slowly and stir/fold to combine. Add 7 cups cereal for more of a soft/chewy marshmallow treat and 8 cups of cereal for a little more crispy treat.
  • The trick is more marshmallows, less butter and DO NOT OVERCOOK the marshmallows.  You want them light and fluffy when you add the cereal.  You can either use your octagonal bonMat to press the mixture into the large round mold and let cool before eating.  Or, you can fill shapes of a flexipan tray of choice (we like the square savarin tray) and use your octagonal bonMat to press into the tray.  Let cool and enjoy!
