
Ginger Cream Cookies

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Frosting:
- 1/4 cup softened butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk or heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F degrees.
- Mix sugar and shortening together. Add egg, molasses and water. In a separate bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients to the molasses mixture and mix well until combined. Refrigerate dough for at least 1 hour.
- Drop dough onto silpat and bake for approx. 8 minutes. Once cookies have cooled, add the frosting to each with your pastry bag.
Notes
Normally I double or triple this recipe because they go fast at our house!

I made the dough and it’s been in my fridge for a couple hours. It still has movement when I tilt the bowl. Is that normal?
